Adriana received her PhD in Comparative Gender Studies from the Central European University in 2019. In her doctoral work, she conducted an ethnographic study of queer/non-normative sexualities in Beirut, Lebanon. Placing herself between the fields of Gender and Sexuality Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, and Queer Anthropology, she has been building a new conceptual framework for the study of “the sexual” in the region. Further research interests include: armed conflict, NGOization, LGBT activism, and Queer Refugee Studies. She is currently working on a book project tentatively titled “Hedging Sexualities in Beirut”.
