Agnes Doka is a communications consultant with 20 years of experience in public relations and capacity building. Her clients include businesses, governments, and non-governmental organizations. She studied public relations in Canada, which included fundraising, and decided to bring along Western fundraising skills to post-communist Eastern Europe. Soon after relocating from Canada, she became director of public relations in an advertising agency in Budapest, where she helped business clients restructure their corporate social responsibility activities in a way that allowed them to teach fundraising skills to non-governmental organizations and schools.
In addition to lecturing on public relations in postgraduate marketing courses, she also held trainings and workshops at CEU in several communications-related areas such as public relations for NGOs, fundraising, leadership development and media relations, to mention a few.
In the past 12 years, she has found her calling in democratization processes. Since working as a trainer in Afghanistan's first presidential election in 2004 for the United Nations, she has participated in over 20 election observation missions with the EU, OSCE, and the Canadian government in the Balkans, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. She was the Press Officer of the EU Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to Afghanistan in 2009, and the EU EOM to Ethiopia in 2010.
Doka is based in Hungary and travels frequently for capacity building and observation assignments around the world.
