Dr Hannah Loney is an expert in women's and gender history, and twentieth-century Southeast Asian and international history. Her research interests also include transnational feminist activism, violence, oral history, memory, and nationalism. Her first book, In Women's Words: Violence and Everyday Life during the Indonesian Occupation of East Timor, 1975–1999, was published in 2018. In 2020, she co-edited a volume with Katharine McGregor and Ana Dragojlovic entitled Gender, Violence and Power in Indonesia: Across Time and Space.
