Jürgen Hörmann has extensive experience in international education and management of exchange programs. As a trained English teacher, he has taught in a wide range of different settings and institutions worldwide. He formerly worked at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences where he was in charge of alumni relations, career services and international relations. As an adjunct faculty, he teaches English and Intercultural Communication at the FH Wien der WKW but has also worked in the field of teacher training for Modul Private University and the Private University College of Teacher Training (Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule) Vienna.
Jürgen Hörmann was born and raised in Vienna, Austria where he attended high-school. He spent his junior year in the US on a high-school exchange and graduated from John S. Battle High School as salutatorian. Upon graduation from high-school in Austria he completed the compulsory military service and started studying English and History at the University of Vienna for becoming a teacher. After completion of his teaching degree, he enrolled in a PhD program at the University of Vienna focusing on Austrian post World War II socio-economic history and finished his degree in 2009. Jürgen Hörmann recently completed an extra-occupational international MBA program focusing on management and communication.
Jürgen Hörmann has worked in various educational institutions ranging from high schools and elementary schools in Austria and Japan (JET Program) to universities and colleges in the US and Austria. He was a Fulbright FLTA at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and has worked at various Austrian Fachhochschulen as a part-time or adjunct faculty since 2006. He joined Fulbright Austria in 2011 where he was responsible for program administration, program promotion, quality assurance and program development of the USTA and FLTA program. From 2016-2017 he worked as head of the center for continuous education at the KPH Vienna.
