As Teaching and Research Assistant to Acting Dean Julia Buxton, Lucia Sobeková conducts research on drug policy, security issues and recent policy developments in Latin America. She assists Dean Buxton in preparing syllabi and classes, and also with her academic research. Prior to joining SPP, she worked on numerous European projects concerning mostly young people and social exclusion. During her time as a student at SPP, Sobeková was a part of the Applied Policy Project team that drew lessons on conflict prevention for the International Crisis Group. Sobeková continued her involvement with the International Crisis Group as an independent consultant on drug policy and wrote the organization's submission for the UN General Assembly Special Session on drugs 2016.
In addition to her native Slovak, Sobeková speaks English and Spanish fluently and has a working knowledge of French.
