Xymena Kurowska is an International Relations theorist interested in interpretive policy analysis. She received her doctorate in political and social sciences from European University Institute in Florence, Italy. She works within international political sociology, with a particular focus on security theory, psychosocial and anthropological approaches in the study of politics, relational and interpretive methodologies, and the ethics of academic practice. She has been a grantee of European Foreign and Security Policy Studies Programme and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie senior research fellow at the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University. She also served as the CEU principal investigator in Global Norm Evolution and Responsibility to Protect, chair of International Political Sociology section at International Studies Association, and academic rapporteur for EU Cyber Direct. She co-edits Palgrave book series Central and Eastern European Perspectives on International Relations and serves on the editorial board of PARISS: Political Anthropological Research on International Social Sciences.

She teaches and welcomes MA and PhD supervision in the area of: international political sociology, international intervention and state-building, posthumanism, Russian foreign policy, norms in international politics, cyberdiplomacy, and political trolling.
