Gergo Pulay is a Research Affiliate at the Center for Policy Studies. His main fields of interests include marginalization, poverty, stigmatization, clientelism, economic anthropology, ethnographic research practice. Beforehand, he was doing research in a variety of fields including labour migration, nationalism and ethnicity, popular culture and Roma performance both in Hungary and Romania. He defended his PhD dissertation with the title ‘Street life, Value and Exchange in a Poor Neighbourhood of Bucharest’. Currently he is also a Research Fellow at the Institute for Regional Studies at the Centre for Economic and Regional Studies, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Previously he was an International Fellow at the New Europe College in Bucharest, and a Doctoral Fellow of the Marie Curie SocAnth International PhD Programme Promoting Anthropology in Central and Eastern Europe. In the academic year of 2017/18 he was teaching a class Introduction to Social Sciences as part of the Open Learning Initiative at the Central European University. Throughout the years of his academic engagement, he dedicated his work to transnational conversations in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond.
