Pedro Perfeito da Silva holds a BA and a MA in Economics from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil).

In Brazil, he was research assistant at projects related to the 2007 Global Financial Crisis, Creative Economy, Regional Development and the Brazilian Financial System. His current research interest mainly lies in international political economy, specifically, in the politics of capital controls in emerging and developing countries after the dismantlement of the Bretton Woods order.

Currently, he is research assistant in the project Estimating Popular Constraints in Debt Crisis Management, funded by Fritz Thyssen Foundation, that examines how voters respond to fiscal austerity in times of financial pressure and is motivated by the difficulties of many European governments to address the problem of high and growing public debt.
